I know spiders are essential and I know that gardens are for creepy crawlies but can anyone give me any ideas how I can keep them out of me greenhouse?
I am absoloutley petrified of the creatures and they seem to love my greenhouse.
The greenhouse is very old and I have not actually grown anything in it since I moved into my house as I am constantly trying to keep it clean but I'm too scared to go in it!
I spend all of my time hosing it down from the doorway as these spiders are super fast web spinners, every day I go to hose it out all of the webs are back!
There are several gaps in the glass and I have tried to seal it up as best as I can but they are still managing to make their way in.
Any ideas?

I know what you mean bexta - I hate the little ******* aswell.

You can buy a spray called 'Spider Stop' - Betterware and Kleenze sell it (though you may find it elsewhere aswell).

It does work - just spray an area where you think they might be coming in i.e. doorway, windows etc.

The spray consists of horse chestnut and cloves. Its not expensive 2.99 or 3.99

I buy it in bulk !!!!!!!!!

Hiya look on google for spider repellents you should find a few tips on there

They just gross me out, no matter what size, and even the dead one's!
Have you really found that works?
I bought it before and sprayed it all around my house windows in the summer but they still came in!
Have you got any suggestions on how to get rid of the one's that are already in there and that are waiting to pounce on me as soon as I walk through the door?
If I can't get rid of them I may as well take the greenhouse down as I won't use it while they are in there :-(

I have every spider repeller going, I even have one of those ultra-sonic things but nothing seems to work.
Sorry but, If you want to live and thrive, let a spider run a;ive. I love the little creatures, think of all the flies they kill.
i find them scary too. i also employ the trick of hosing the greenhouse down when i go in.

but when it comes to it if you are the kind of person who wants to grow things in a greenhouse then you must love nature - and if you love nature you just have to deal with the creepy crawlies. grow up and get over it. if you cant get over it then do what the rest of us do..... spray water in the greenhouse when you go in and run away when you see one!

most of the time if you stomp around enough they will hide anyway.
Get a spray bottle, fill it half water, half washing up liquid shake and spray,it wont harm your plants bexta.
I would'nt mind if the damn things only had 2 legs and 2 eyes!

Thanks for all of the replies guys, I wish I could grow up and get over it but if I see one I muster up all to go near it but I just freeze.
I hose the greenhouse down eveyday but their webs are so stubborn, I always end up walking face first into one, or the water drips on me and I think its a spider and it just freaks me out.
Thanks for the suggestion chinadog, I will give that a go, along with the spiderstop spray.
I did read somewhere else that moth balls also work but are those poisonous?
As my greenhouse only houses spiders at the moment, I've bought one of those candles that kills bacteria, hopefully that will get rid of some of them too.
A smoke-bomb will do the trick, available from a good garden store.
I put horse chestnuts everywhere to keep them away,it always seems to work, they have them in supermarkets, and just need replacing roughly every six months.
Make your own natural spider deterrent. Add 1 to 5 drops of any essential oils ( Catnip Oil, Citronella Oil, Lavender Oil, Cinnamon Oil, Peppermint Oil, Citrus Oil, Tea Tree Oil) to 1 quart water and spary where spiders are seen in your green house. If you add peppermint or lavender then add 5 tablespoons to one quart of water.

Lavender is a great natural spider repellent, which is nontoxic to plants. Lime, lemon, and orange essential oils are all used to repel spiders naturally as well.
