A friend of the kids mother contacted me yesterday as she wanted to take my two out for the day as company for her son. She was taking them to a country park and then swimming. After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing she said she'd pick them up at 12.30 but would message me when she was leaving. Anyway, as they were going out, didn't take them to cinema this morning, didn't bother to tell them to have a shower as they were swimming. Then I get a text saying no swimming as her son has a cough.....and I am still waiting for them to be picked up! I offered to drop them off but she made a big thing of me getting a day to myself.

Kids have been sitting ready to go for an hour now and I am getting really anoyed - what a waste of a day!!!

cath, she turned up at 20 to 2, instead of going to country park, they went to local park after going back to hers to change her shoes, got rained off and went home to her house for tea and she dropped them back at 6.30 - half an hour earlier than she said but luckily we were at home and hadn't decided to nip out for an early dinner since we were kid free!!
err, she cannot control the weather...

had she took them the park and the brought them home muddy and soaked you would have gone mad about that...

and 15 mins waiting? hardly a long time... its a good lesson for them anyway really - to take a positive from it - lots of life involves waiting so getting them used it is no bad thing...

next time just keep texting and reiterate times etc - as i say she may see times given as a general time, rather than dead on...not realising you expect those times to be adhered to... i think would see them as an general time - 6.30 is teatime-ish etc ...as kids are finished when theyre finished, and on a day out i wouldnt want to, or expect others to, cut short the fun dead on the stroke of a set time...
