Stieg Larsson, Jo Nesbo and then...?

I've recently started reading (and thoroughly enjoying) Stieg Larsson's 'Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'. I downloaded the other two books in the series, and a few Jo Nesbo novels.

However, I know I'm going to race through those pretty quickly, and am interested in other Nordic crime writers of the same calibre.

Can anyone recommend any further good reads?

B00 I was the same, all my friends have read 'Girl With...' and raved over it. I just COULDN'T get into it. So maybe I won't bother then. Thought it was just me.
I know Boo. Sometimes I put in an author just to see the names bounce around. lol.
ive done just that Chrissa, had a tinker on it. Gonna bookmark it, thanks :-)

Weird isn't it Yoga? Folks rave about something and you just don't geddit, lol.
Have written all those suggestions down in my little reading list book, including nesbo, need to top up my kindle with quite a few books over the next week or so so it's great to have some authors and books to have a look at.
Years ago, I only started reading Birdsong because of all the hype about it, and really struggled at the beginning. However, I'm so glad I stuck with it as its almost my all time favourite book now, so I hate giving up on a book in case I miss out on a really good read.
Well, I enjoyed the trilogy !
As a complete random suggestion, have you tried this series http://www.fantasticf...n.co.uk/s/c-j-sansom/ featuring Shardlake? I got in to it quite late (read the last one first as didn't realise it was a series!) but these are really well written books and you get a really interesting history lesson with 'em, (one of those lessons where you really like the teacher).

Wow...thanks everyone for such a comprehensive list. Going to be saving this link for future reference.

I happen to be loving The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and can't BELIEVE I didn't think of Henning Mankell - seeing as I've seen practically every Wallender ever made (even the 'less than great' Kenneth Branagh version).

I think I'll go for Henning next and then Camilla, because her name cropped up at the weekend when I asked the same question to a bookworm friend.

Oh and by the way CD - your avatar terrifies me.
Love the Shardlake books too China ..There was talk of a TV series with Kenneth Branagh playing the title role but I don't know if anything came of it .
I assume you've watched the ones with Krister Hendrickson and the lovely cuddly Rolf Lassgard sp1814.
They're really good .My offspring bought me the DVD's for Christmas .Brillant .
another one worth trying is Johan Theorin imo that is.

Yep - for me, it's Krister all the way...it may be that I'm biased, because his was the first portrayal I saw.

The Branagh version didn't make sense to me (if it was set in Sweden, why is everyone talking English, when we have a perfectly good Swedish version already).
try Midwinter sacrifice by Mons Kellentoft, very much like Nesbo, more so than Larsson
I agree that the KH ones were better to watch. The Branagh ones were a bit too 'arty' for me but they do stick more or less to the book plots.
I don't think I fancy Kenneth playing Shardlake at all... don't really know who I have in mind but not him :-/

At least I have an avatar Splat! ;oP
