I've always said BT are a rip off. Up until eight years ago I was with them for my phone and Internet (Evenings and Weekends). I seldom used my phone except to call those in my BT Family & Friends list but despite being a relatively light user my quarterly bills were always in the region of £130 - £160. I eventually terminated my contract with them and signed up...

You make your argument well...

But, did you research the options and try and negotiate all the offers available.... or just sign up blindly for the first thing offered?
on what grounds is it a rip-off? we're with BT - no problem at all.

i was just looking at my bill and saw my phone calls bill was £24 for 3 months total bill £91
im just about to alter my BT account to unlimited calls+ line rental £19.50 a month, if i pay £120 up front ( 12 x £10.00) it works out about £15.00 a month.Unless you are ringing mobiles & premium rate numbers you are doing something wrong..
does this include your internet provisions ?
So you're paying £22.33 a month for whichever services BT are providing?

You've not said what services they are providing? does that Include any "pay for" services or broadband at all?.... are you on a calling plan that doesn't fit your usage?
take your calls away from the £91.00 leaves £67.00 devide that by 3 = £22.00 per month line rental + calls, cant find a deal like that on the BT website

I've always said BT are a rip off. Up until eight years ago I was with them for my phone and Internet (Evenings and Weekends). I seldom used my phone except to call those in my BT Family & Friends list but despite being a relatively light user my quarterly bills were always in the region of £130 - £160. I eventually terminated my contract with them and signed up with Virgin Media (or NTL as it was then known) for 24/7 broadband (and no line rental required!) at a cost of £12.00 per month and also signed up for a contract mobile phone from 3 for £15.00 a month and have never looked back. Admittedly, Virgin Media have increased their prices since then (to be fair, they've also increased their broadband speed) but they're still a lot cheaper than what I was paying to BT in 2004. Would I ever go back to BT?... When Hell freezes over!

thanks for all your responces to my bit moan with bt .but will be intouch with them to see what is the best deal (just retired and looking to reduce my outgoing )
My BT = £31.60 per month, includes line rental, all calls (excluding international) broadband up to 8Mb with unlimited downloads = I'm happy.
I have just changed from BT to Plusnet and am very satisfied. It's working out cheaper and the call centres are all in Leicester and I get to talk to who I want to talk too and they are actually pleasant and helpful. BT are absolutely useless at communicating and one hand doesn't know what the other is doing - and as for their bloomin' call centres......................................
...
My blood pressure has improved since leaving BT.
