Boston - like the rest of him.

Thanks Andy but I've never heard an accent like it, surely not all people from Boston sound like him and if they do it wants flatening!
There is (at least one)distinct Bostonian accent - a strangely strangulated Kennedy-esque Brahmin, mixed with Irish, a dash of docker and not be discounted, a desire to sound different. (There's a distinct New York accent too - something about the long-established cities of the East Coast, perhaps?) Anyway, for more on the Boston (or Bawstin) accent: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/6741/boston.htm

It is a Boston, USA, accent, from the wealthier end of the spectrum and is also tinted with a plummy English accent, from his lengthy time here in the UK. One interesting aspect of the Boston accent is that unlike the majority of the US, they pronounce a 'flat r' like southern Brits. The standard pronunciation in the rest of the US is more like the West Country burr... If you want really interesting accents then go way up into Maine.. there it's a real West Country, Irish, type mix.
As his name is Grossman, the apostrophe comes after the n and before the s, ie Grossman's. And I agree, it does sound as if he being strangled, or maybe that's just wishful thinking.
