I have resorted to using sub titles to try and work out why the team captains, sometimes the participants and the audience always seem to find what Mark Lamarr says on Never Mind the ********* so funny. Aside from the scripted lines which might just about evoke a smile, what he ostensibly ad libs is never funny. If he is standing in for Ross on Radio 2 I change channels. Am i missing something here or is he a breed of personalities who thinks eveyrthing he says has to be funny? Does any one feel the same.

Yes, I agree with you, I also feel the same about Graham Norton .
I really like Mark Lamarr - not sure what's going on with his hair these days though - looks like he's got a dyed Shredded Wheat on his head!

I went to watch an episode of this being filmed. Apart from it taking 3 1/2 hours to be filmed a good proportion of the material was SO blue they could not even put it on the programme.

As a result, and a lot of the time, the jokes were a continuation of things that we spoken about when the camera's weren't rolling, hence the laughter from the audience and participants.

I'm with you. I didn't like him, didn't think he was funny and there was too much use of the word c**t for my liking! (I am not even an old codger - I'm 25!!!)

I Totally totally agree with you, i really dont find him funny and the only thought worst than Mark lamarr would have to be Jimmy Carr, now there is a man whom i hate with a passion!!!

mark lamarr has been irritating me more and more in recent series' of buzzc0cks.

bill bailey is much funnier than mark, but just as he gets going, mark interrupts him with some irrelevant gibberish.

however, all is not lost - i read on the bbc website yesterday that he's taking a break (but only for 1 series) and they're gonna use guest presenters (a la have i got news for you)

Do you think he is more or less irritating than Julian Clary ?
I don't mind Julian Clary either - although TV is obviously not his medium. Jimmy Carr though, I find immensly annoying. The pitch of his voice, the way he talks, the unfunny things he says, his creepy man/child appearence, and which skip does he root in to find his clothes?

Well I quiite like him and find him funny, but there you go. If we are celeb-bashing, then I happily go along with the annoying Graham Norton, over the top I am right you are wrong Justin & Colin and that woman from property ladder who makes you feel so depressed because of her 'concern' and 'worry' (count how many times she says those in one episode) that you hope one day that one of the property peep's bricks her into an alcove.

I think Mark Lamar is really funny. He doesn't mind poking fun at himself as well as at others.

Mark Lamarr is a damn sight funnier than that new guy on They Think It's All Over, and any fan of The Specials gets my vote every time

I feel that it's not just in the sense of on-screen seating in which Mark Lamarr is halfway between Bill Bailey (extremely funny) and Phill Jupitus (ho hum). I think he's OK, but it's Bill Bailey who makes the programme so watchable for me.
I agree with you me, Bill Bailey rocks, but how annoying IS Yvette Fielding....??
Yvette fielding, i know. the only time you got a real laugh out of MOST HAUNTED was when Chappers and Scott Mills off radio1 were on. funny stuff

just shows you that a good sense of humour is a very subjective thing.

I like lamaar, norton, bailey etc

I can't stand junior simpson

I love the show and I think Lemar, Bailey and Jupitus are completely hilarious. I also love Jimmy Carr as they all have a dry and wicked sense of humor.

I don't understand that if you don't like something then don't watch it.
