The company that arranges and administer my insurance policy has written to me stating that

'' As part of the renewal process ,in order to get you the most accurate quote , the insurers -and / or ........ may now check your details with a credit referencing agency and a record of this search will appear on your credit report whether or not you renew your your policy ''

'' if you are happy with the changes we've made to the renewal process ,you don't need to do anything , you'll receive your renewal pack as planned . If you are not please call us ........... ''

Should I be concerned - is the foregoing anything to worry about ?

they do this anyway, or so i thought, i wouldn't worry, unless your blacklisted...!
They do do it anyway, but at least they've told you in advance. I get a credit agency report every month and it shows a surprising number of bodies who have checked my credit rating, including companies who i have only made enquiries of.Apart from the obvious updating, checking whether your circumstances are the same, they do that to combat fraud e.g. by picking up the same name or address being used an unusual number of times or in odd circumstances.
