I don't know very much about pensions, so if this is an idiotic question please don't be too hard on me !
I have been paying a small amount (£ 32 per month) into a private pension for the last 10 years but I no longer want to continue with this. Is there anyway to access this money now, as if it were savings, or do I have to wait until I am of a pensionable age ?
If I can't access it, is there anything else I can do - like transfer it to an ISA or something ?
As always, your help is very much appreciated.
Thanks dzug2 - I had a feeling that might be the case - once in, you can't get it out ! Thankfully there is no terminal diagnosis, I'll just have to wait 20 years to get it !!
Yes, you do have to wait until you are of pensionable age, but that age is 55. If your total pension funds total less than £18,000 today (£15,000 next tax year) you may be able to access it all subject to paying some tax.
