3-4 years ago my doctor put me on a steroid spray for my ashthma which damaged my larynx and caused a husky voice. I saw an ENT concultant who sent me on a course with a speech therapist. This helped very little.I am sick and tired of trying to make myself understood on the phone. Recently my voice was a whisper (over xmas my husband said it was very peaceful). Can anyone suggest anything to help me?

Have to tried to speak in a higher pitch, the reason I say this is, I used ti sing in Bands and over the years I have gradually damaged my voice ,the one thing I could never do was to sing in a high voice like The Bee Gees, recently I found myself singing along to songs on the radio and my wife was saying how I was singing the high line .
I hope this is of some help, you never knnow .

There is NOTHING that can be done......you will always have a husky voice......try always to peak normally and do not whisper.

Sorry.
how common is it for steroid sprays to damage vocal cords ?
Anne In my opinion.....very unusual......but it can happen and does.
