Any advice would be very welcome and appreciated........

We are currently in the process of downsizing my Mother's property into a suitable Retirement apartment.

The issue is...

Her current home has central heating BUT it is coal fired (dirty, smelly, a lot of extra work but sentimental to her) and she has NO gas to the property. It has been completely disconnected for years. We now need to put the property on the market but have no idea how much it would cost to be reconnected with all the necessary alterations etc. The house is an average 3 bed semi on a normal estate where 99.9% will have gas central heating.
I'm not sure whether we will get this conversion done prior to selling or price the house lower to compensate.

Can anybody out there advise a rough cost?

Thank You Very Much for any help.

Thank You Buenchico,

I was anticipating a lot more as I thought it would take a lot of of work to have it done.
Maybe we will do it before she sells.
You can't assume that just because Scottish Gas quote a figure, others will be similar - there is a huge variation between regions.
It also depends on the length of the connection required back to the gas main - up to 40m seems to crop up a lot in the definition of the maximum length for the 'std' price.
There is some information in this document for 4 regions in England, but you are going to have to contact the organisation that holds the licence to transport gas in your region (i.e. this is not to do with British Gas).

Thanks for these, I have spoken to National Grid who have quoted £621.20 incl of vat to connect the property, this includes any excavation needed.
Awaiting quotes to alter the current system from coal powered.

Many Thanks Again
