Agree NOX sometimes just maintaining a thread on here can be a valuable distraction for someone in a bad place... and I do worry about some people. As in real life however there are those for whom I have a degree of antipathy... and others who I think I'd like to meet them they seem like lovely/funny/interesting people.
NOX - I am in regular contact with Moyra and she is back at home enjoying her life thanks to good nursing care. I will pass on to her your good wishes :)
ah you didnt see Mark Rae before

after.......I would say pussy cat, absolute pussy cat

by the way M, what happened to the trooper who got into trouble, got thrown out of the army, got into trouble again and THEN threw the knife away that had the other chaps DNA on it and therefore would have acquitted him ?[self defence]
None of the above - What it has done, is affirm that there are some lovely, intelligent, caring, funny, witty people in the world. I would love to have a pint with a lot of ABers.

It also shows that there are a lot of one eyed intolerent, self serving people, who have thier own agendas and completly lack compassion.

Of those I think the former group are in the ascendant and to me, a grumpy, getting older man, it gives me some faith in human kind.
I think AB has opened my eyes to many attitudes and facets of life that I otherwise wouldn't see ...

... fortunately for every "jesus wept" moment there have been far more "that's good" ones.

More importantly, as Eddie said, I've 'met' some very intelligent, humorous, caring people with a real sense of community.

There are some gits around too - by which I don't mean people I disagree with - healthy debate is good, but bigotry, intransigence and rudeness aren't. Fortunately the good outnumber the bad by a factor of 'many' and long may it last.

As to whether AB has changed me, I'm not sure I've been an active member for long enough to tell - come back and ask me again in a few months time ... (I'm sure someone will) :)
I don't think AB has altered my personality in any way... I have never been a very tolerant person, I have always been cynical and I'm generally quite mellow (although if you stop in front of me on the street or on the escalator I will naturally want to rip your leg off and beat you about the head with it... but that's a normal response). AB makes me laugh a lot, mostly with other users but occasionally at them. I like to laugh.
Yes.

I'm now a serene, calm, even tempered delight to be around now, and it's all thanks to AnswerBank. God bless her, and all those who sail in her.
Thank you TTFN, that's cheered me up, i'm glad she's doing well.
I think I've become a bit more patient, mellow and more tolerable of society on the whole (not just AB). I do cringe thinking about some of the things I have said on here in the past. It has broadened my views.
It hasn't made me feel anything really but it has opened my eyes to how spiteful some people can be especially when uncalled for, on the flip side of that I've also felt the compassion from others towards members that are in a bit of strife, remarkable in the fact that this a relatively anonymous forum.

Some encouraging posts here..and many come across as heartfelt, and considered.
And better still,as I look out the window, there is a beautiful blue sky,and a lovely bit of sun poking through, the first in a while.I promised to take someone to lunch,at a pub next to Longleat..as soon as the Sun shone..so this is it!!

Hasn't changed my mind about football though, still hate it with a vengence. This is where my tolerance ends!
