How do you mean, you're better with one about the Troubles? what are you researching?

I have a recent interest in all the troubles in ireland ....

The dvd was good but i found myself wanting to see outsidr the prison? More in the streets or families etc and not just set in maize prison!?

So rather than a film on the strike alone i was looking for suggestions for films outwith that? X
i recommend reading 1972 the worst year .Also books by martin Dillon and peter taylor give very good insight to troubles.Trouble with dvd and films they go for the dramatic too much.
in the name of the father. excellent film with pete postlethwaite at his finest. x
A good film I agree but the father and son didn't share a cell in real life.
"Hunger" is a great film. The book to go with it is "Ten Men Dead."
Not a DVD but a website:

Very informative.

Thank you all xx
There are very few that centre on 'The Troubles' themselves but having served in Northern Ireland during the 80's I too enjoyed watching films/programmes about it as it is a place I enjoyed so much.

Harry's Game (TV series) was set in Northern Ireland, unsure if the DVD is available though, need to check.

A Prayer For The Dying (Mickey Rourke, Liam Neeson) is about an IRA gunman trying to escape his past.

One really good one is called Angel, starring Stephen Rea.

Same actor in The Crying Game.

This too was made into a TV programme and was very realistic, unsure if it's available on DVD though. Possibly available to watch on youTube:

Hope those are of some interest to you.
