It has lost all it's meaning. I bet there are a lot of children who have now idea of the true meaning. All that happens is families all over the country are blackmailed and bribed into spending money on ridiculous overpriced gifts they cannot really afford, so end up going into debt so as not to appear miserable or 'tight'. A small gift as a gesture is all that's needed, especially if money is tight, instead of this rampant commercial bullying. I will be glad when it's over.

dave is a rather negative sort.....
Scrooge is still alive and well I see!!
I have to agree with OP. I regard Christmas as a "marketing opportunity" and little else.
Now my family are grown up it isn't the same. but they still like to come home to recapture the Christmas they remember.
Yes, people may have lost the true meaning of Christmas, but to me it should be a family time, no matter what religion, so you can get together and just celebrate, after the troubles of the year.

Yes and why do people buy huge quantities of food when the shops are only shut for two days! of course a lot will be thrown away by the selfish, thoughtless people just because it's reached its 'best before' date, as if the food suddenly goes off on the stroke of midnight!
Must be getting near Christmas see the easter eggs are out
What is the true meaning of Christmas then Dave?
It wasn't originally a Christian festival and Jesus wasn't born on December 25th.

No, join the club. I just don't celebrate it. If I want to give someone a gift
I do so, I don't wait until Christmas or anyother celebration. My grandchildren get gifts whenever I feel the urge to do so. And they don;t have to be expensive. They love whatever they get.
