Hi, we want to buy a 42inch plasma screen tv, we have been looking in particular at the Philips 4231R which is HD ready and has all the things we require. Can anyone offer any advice about this TV or plasma's in general? i prefer them to LCD's cos if you look at an LCD from an angle you can see it properly. Thanks

Before you make a deffinitive decision, why not look at a fairly neutral comparative site such as this?

We've been deciding on a larger screen unit for some time, and while the early LCD's left a lot to be desired, they now have a lot of advantages. We did buy a smaller LCD (14inch) for the kitchen and really do like it. It is significantly sharper and brighter than equivalent sized plasma units. At any rate, the LCD actually has a greater viewing angle (170 degrees) than does a plasma (160 degrees), at least in the brands we have compared.

Good luck, though...
