Can you buy this product other than at the vets? My 21 year old cat was prescribed this liquid to help with constipation but it was SO expensive for such a small amount. I know you can get it for humans quite cheaply, could I use this ( in smaller doses obviously) for my cat?
I have looked on pet supply sites, but cannot find anyone stocking this product for animals.. Thanks

It says here that you can only get it for your cat on prescription from the vet http://www.petplace.c.../lactulose/page1.aspx However, it might be worth asking different vets how much they charge - as with human medications, you ought to be able to get it from any dispensing vet, IMO. My new independent vet charges much less for medicines than my previous chain vet did.
Katalax on Ebay for around £10 for a 20kg tube. Don't know if this is any good Auntiemoll? I'm at cat rescue next Sunday so i will enquire there for you.
