After a build-up of debts from university, I sold my flat last year, paid off all my debts and moved in with my parents. I am now relocating due to work and am wondering if my previous adverse credit record (I missed many payments on credit cards, loans etc) will affect my ability to rent a flat? I still have one credit card which I use and haven't missed a payment on that or utility bills for the past 18 months. Do estate agents do credit checks and will I be able to rent a property?

i think it depends on the estate agency that you use. where i rent from, i had to go through a credit check (which i had to pay for), but some other people who i know, who rent from different agencys didnt have to go through these checks. they did however have to provide x months wage slips to prove their income.
