I've never used Windows 7 but I'm amazed that ANY version of Windows will allow you to CREATE (rather than go back to) any restore point other than at the current date and time.

Windows automatically 'takes a photo' of the registry at periodic intervals, as well as doing so immediately prior to allowing you to install new software. Each of those 'photos' is a 'restore point' which you can use to take your registry back to the time when the 'photo' was taken.

Windows also allows you to 'take a photo' of the registry, in its current state, at any time of your choosing by using the option to create your own restore point. However it would be impractical for Windows to clutter up your hard drive with data from several days ago, just in case you would fancy 'taking a photo' from those days. If there were any important 'restore points' (e.g. immediately prior to installing new software) Windows will have created them automatically anyway.

You seem to be looking for a facility which serves no purpose.
