in the corner of my room was a small brown spider which shook its web violently when i touched it-what spider is it?

If it was rather harmless-looking with small body and very long fragile legs, it would be one called a Harvestman I think

no def not a harvestman(big daddy ling leg) this was more of a baby house spider-yes it looked harmless with no distinguishing features
searched google but many relate to usa web shaking spiders

Impossible to say with any certainty. Orb type webs (a la Charlotte's Web) will often vibrate when touched, but this is due to tension in the design of the web, rather than action taken by the spider. However, there are thousands of species of spiders which build this type of web, and positive ID would require photographic evidence.
