I remember when the ad break was limited to 2 minutes on ITV. Now in one hourly episode I bet we only get about 35 mins drama!

Me too cookian

I've recorded it and will start watching in a few minutes. That way I can whizz through them and still finish watching at about the same time as the live version.

Yes, the only solution. I'm about to buy a freesat recorder for the same reason.
It should be remembered that ITV1 has been close to bankruptcy for several years now, through insufficient advertising revenue to meet their costs. You can't really blame them if they've actually got advertisers breaking their door down for access to advertising time within a particular programme!
Good idea, you won't regret it.
And it's going to get worse !

and it's on for an hour and a half anyway....

Good point Buenchico. I am not only going to watch all the ads in the next break but I will go out and buy all the stuff advertised!

Oops! Way past my bed time Postdog!
I quite like having ad breaks (but not too many though!) - chance to pop to the loo or to make a cuppa! I would like to know just how many people actually watch adverts the whole ad break long - if I'm still in front of the TV I always switch the sound off.
I agree about the amount of ads but I suppose ITV need the cash. Downton Abbey must have cost millions to produce. I love it so will put up with the ad breaks.
Yes, Puss, Downton Abbey costs about one million pounds per episode to make. ITV won't necessarily have to pay that much to show it, since Carnival Films will also sell it overseas. However will certainly knock a large hole in ITV's budget unless there are enough adverts to meet their costs.
Wait until it comes out on DVD
I guess you don't hate the ads themselves, you just hate them interrupting the programme!
Maidup
I do the same as you ...I cannot stand the ads ,interrupting good dramas etc.at least we don`t have that with BBC.
What about channel 5 ...terrible... ads every 5 mins ...alright so you can make a cuppa...could make ten they are so long!!!
