Am off to the wilds of a remote Western Siberian town tomorrow to meet my pen friend I have had for 50 years. Refusing to be bullied (although a very self-effacing lady) her career, her "housing" and works holidays and the like all suffered because she would not give me up as the local Communuist Party officials demanded, nor would she ever join the Party. What stoicism!

See you all when I get back to Blighty early October.
