My friend opened an e-mail this morning by mistake with the title subject saying '' Can you help me? ''

She can now not open any of her accounts as they are not accepting her password etc and the same e-mail has been sent to all contact addresses on her hot-mail account, including me, which I have deleted.

I know its a scam but whats the best thing she can do?

I know this should be in computers but more people read C/B. Thanks.

oh dear, I think Chuck or one of the other Techies may have to advise here, I would have said to a full factory reset but I am not sure this would work now here email has been infected
Hotmail's notorious for falling victim to this one and others like it.

The first thing she needs to do is to set up another account with a different provider and attempt to send a warning to all her contacts. She should not use the old one at all.

For any important accounts such as her bank or any online shopping accounts, she should contact the companies directly and get them to put a stop on them.

Sadly the only thing she can do about the others is to let them go and open new accounts with new details - and not store her contacts in her hotmail account!
