Are the Ministry of Justice right to abandoned an inquiry into the rise of secretive Sharia councils?

Will this decision give rise to an increase in these illegal Sharia councils?

A kilt's not a skirt but if he wore a turban, he'd be able to carry a couple of blades, nae bother!
Safiya I was referring to being a Muslim . I know because I have been accused of being a Muslim, as if it was a crime, because of my talks and the fact I try to give a balanced view. In reality I'm an atheist and I see the good and bad in all religions. However if under pain of death I was forced to adopt a religion I would prefer Islam to RC. Thankfully I don't have to choose between the rituals of either and in addition the hypocracy of the latter.
"This thread and others like it before and many more to come just shows that multiculturalism cannot work, not in a million years. Even different tribes in the jungle are at each others throats, no cultures can live happily side by side IMO because the cultures are so different they oppose one another and if living side by side there will always be conflict by its very nature. Sad to say but it's the case as has been proved many times over. "

safiya, well done for your perserverence. but they cannot change, they are stuck in the dark ages. aog and his ilk, are incapable of integration and tolerance - this thread is a valid demonstration of modern tribal paranoia.
Ankou Aren't you being rather pessimistic ? It seems to work in Brazil.

/// you really make me laugh you know... you post threads such as these... asking a question then slink off to sit back and watch the fall out...... i thought the reason for putting up a question/debate was to actually join in it beyond bobbing on and prostrating to those that agree with you however slightly.... and twisting the words of others that dont... its usually the same few people you pick on for that..... theres tons of interesting stuff been said in this thread you could have replied to yet you replied twice to me (once twisting my words and the other im answering now) once to daisy where you just agreed and once to SP (who is one of the people you seem to single out a lot imo ....hope SP doesnt mind me saying that) ///

First let me answer you regarding your very rude and aggressive post.

1/ You accuse me of asking a question then slinking off to sit back and watch the fall out......

I think I have commented very much on this thread, as I do on other ones, I have not slinked off, it is because I have better things to do than to sit at a computer all hours of the day, especially when the weather outside is so glorious.

2/ Regarding twisting the words of others that don't agree with me... and the fact that it is usually the same few people you pick on for that.....

I am not in the habit of twisting words of those that disagree with me, or anyone else for that fact

3/ /// interesting stuff been said in this thread you could have replied to yet you replied twice to me ///

That is most arrogant of you, I don't need you or anyone else telling me who I should reply to or what I should comment on.

If I have replied to you twice and this one makes three, then it was needed considering you accused me of putting words in your mouth, you again denied that you made the following comment /// like i say to anyone who comes out with the im sick of sentence.... you dont have to stay here ya know /// which I interpreted as saying 'they can sod off'. you further went on to repeat similar /// my mate said the other day she was sick of paying massive taxes on everything...i said exactly the same to her....///

I said exactly the same to her, exactly 'sod off'.

Now regarding your aggressive posts, here are a few recent examples on this thread,

/// personally id love you to leave england just for the hell of it :///

I just asked a perfectly innocent question, and was polite enough to add don't answer if it is personal, but did not expect the following rather curt answer from you.

/// i worked part time my ex worked full time ...simple isnt it...///

And then your finishing comment

/// to me it seems you are nothing more than a trouble causer aog.... i guess now you will come back and call me insulting or aggressive like you normally do.....///

Yes I have with good cause I believe, I at least first addressed you by stating 'excuse me for appearing rude'.

I will finish now by saying your aggressiveness and rudeness does nothing to foster a good attitude towards some followers of the Islamic faith.
I think you're picking out things to take exception to, AOG and safiya - this has been a thoroughly interesting thread, and we don't want to it to deteriorate into a slanging match between you both. There have been some strong points and as I said before, lots of learning. We need more threads like this one.

Which just goes to prove how a thread can go astray, when a person starts to be aggressive when there is no need for it.

Not just Safiya, but others that have joined in to attack me and make insulting remarks towards me.
jomifl //the RC gave that up a few centuries ago.//
The Vatican didn't abolish capital punishment until 1969.
and up to 1870 they executed on a regular basis. Not so long ago.!
Also the Holy Roman Empire which caused the deaths of tens of thousands went on until its abolition in circa 1814 when Napoleon brought about its end.

aog, do you agree that the Sharia Courts ARE legal?
For those of us who have enjoyed participating in this thread so far, you might like to read this article from today's i newspaper - I found it interesting and above all, sensible. See what you think http://www.independen...-we-want-2330670.html
To answer the question...
Of course not, religious bigotry should have no place in civil or criminal law and the same law should apply to all.
Boxtops very interesting, though i have read other reports along similar lines, and i agree there should only ever be British Law.
Thanx boxtops, very interesting
Ron.
There's no such thing as British law by the way.
Corbyloon, it's a common misconception and one I was guilty of myself when I first went to live in Scotland. English law does not equal British law!
