Surely we don't need another thread about something that happened a while ago to not many* people? Why not ask the person who organised it and posted another 'question' on the same subject at the same time as you... http://new.theanswerbank.co.uk/DisplayAnswers.go?q

*I'm not suggesting there were 3 people, just that, overall, most people on this site really aren't that interested in the convention, whether it happened, who turned up, what they were drinking, etc etc etc ad blimmin' nauseum...!!

The art of being a good editor is being balanced and going undetected something you have signally failed to do on both counts [...].You yet again shown your bias against certain users of the site by jumping in with both feet, yet we never see you redirecting questioners who have constantly asked about the theme for the Lynx advert or the many similar numerous occasions when this would have been handy and you could have obviated the their need to clog up the section with repeats, also it seems that just as TW is trying to bury the hatchet of the bad feeling that was stirred up before buy suggesting having another go and making it a lower key affair you seem determined to ruin it. So put simply BUTT OUT.....Furthermore while I am not going to be drawn into a long winded debate on this again there were more people attended the "do" than has been suggested in previous posts and the users who did attend had a great night and many new friendships were forged. Hopes this helps josie.

[sft42 - Please note that I post as both 'AB Editor' and under a common-or-garden username. You are confusing the two. As for the tone of your post: normally it would be deleted. Personal attacks lower the tone of the site and go against accepted use. I won't in this case because I really don't want this thread to drag or and/ or get repeated ad nauseum elsewhere, and I don't want to be accused of any more heavy-haandedness than you've already managed. That said, please try to avoid doing this kind of thing in the future.

Your suggestions as to what I should be doing are kindly noted; you will be glad to hear that a great deal of answering/ deleting/ moving does go on already.

_josie_: sorry your post got hijacked by such unpleasantries. - AB Editor]
It bombed.
Now now boys and girls. Decorum, please.

Come come Tartanboy. Why get your kilt flapping so easily. You got no sense of humour? Can't cope with a wind up?

Answers that continue to abuse individuals - whether they work on the site or are regular posters - will be deleted. Once agaiin, apologies to _josie_ for all the unnecessary email's you've been getting!
My point exactly....if personal attacks are against the nature of the site then what do you call the first post on this thread by mikewith if it isn't a personal attack on the people who attended the convention and worse still the questioner. Also have any of mikewith's posts ever been moved, altered or deleted? I strongly object to the fact that you use your power to decide what you think is suitable for others to see (well beyond decency and taste boundaried) and still think it's ok to post using an ordinary username....personally I find Norwich FC about as boring as it get (except when they had Jeremy Goss playing) but i doubt an appeal to the editor will get me very far in this case do you? Furthermore your obviously wrong about the interest in the convention because as it does crop up as a regular posting subject there must be interest in it out there....the fact that your personal feelings don't follow this trend (and others) are hurting your abilities to be an impartial & balanced editor of the site.

My humble apologies to Josie but i hope you've had you question answered fully by all that has been posted here.

[stf42 - if you want to continue this, can I suggest you start a separate thread so _josie_ doesn't get flooded with emails. Give other people the right not to get involved in your dispute - AB Editor]

Josie, this isn't a direct answer but hopefully will further inform. I have not met any of the site submittors but have got to know a couple a bit better via e-mail and the excellent meeting facility offered through xizzy@bok. This is not an alternative to Answerbank but extends some of the links submittors have formed. I am often confused by the tone on the site and the editorial structure. Obviously this is a business and depends on submittors, otherwise it is nought. I am all for decency and respect but it does seem that this is not consistently applied. And, as with any form of interaction between people, there are sure to be conflicts. While maintaining a context of decency, it is surely reassuring for Ab Ed. to know that there is a resource of brain power, creativity and spontaneity amongs submittors. Josie - enjoy the experience!

Many thanks to everyone who answered my question properly, Mikewith: my apologies for not checking previous questions relating to this topic, but a recent family tradegy and the stuff that comes with that sort of thing has prevented me from logging on to the answerbank. I only wanted to post a light-hearted question that would take my mind off of things and (hopefully) provoke a nice discussion. Nevermind. All apologies accepted and special thanks goes to tartanwizard, sft42 and brawburd for answering the question i originally asked.
nae bother Josie, hope all is going okay for you.
Hey _josie_, I answered your question too! sft42, the reason people keep talking about the CONvention is because it was such a spectacular failure which should never be repeated. It's like when people slow down on the motorway to see the aftermath of a car accident. People are sometimes interested in horrible, gruesome things.
