Which Sunday paper did you buy yesterday?

I bought the Sunday Express which I wasn't very impressed with, so will try the Sunday telegraph next week.

though it pains me to even mention it, you might find the Mail on Sunday the nearest thing.
The Mail on Sunday is a good read

The Mail on Saturday and Sunday are both good.
The Sunday Telegraph is £2 and has two crosswords one GK and one Cryptic
rarely buy a sunday paper find it all too much, endless supplements, junk mail, stick to the weekly if possible, never ever bought NOTW
Looking at things in a wider context , if you have an internet connection do you need a sunday newspaper (or any newspaper at all ) ?
It would be interesting to know who won the readership of the News of the World.

I notice that the Sunday Mail was only £1 this week, are they trying to capture this huge band of ex NOTW readers?
they certainly are, aog.

There's a prelliminary report here

http://www.guardian.c...rivals-miss-open-goal

which doesn't exactly answer your question - it says how much Sunday paper sales rose, but since it doesn't say where they started from you can't tell the actual number of purchases. Doubtless it will become clearer incoming weeks.

However (and this will please you) the Mail is planning to launch a more downmarket tabloid to fill the gap.

And why should that please me?

I do not own the Mail neither do I benefit in anyway from it's sales
and neither do I buy a copy.

I only support the Mail, because some would wish it never existed for some reason, only known to themselves.

So my defence of it is only in the name of the freedom of choice for people to buy, read or quote from it's web pages, not just the Mail's but all other legitimate publications.

I would always have a look at the front cover of the NoW whilst picking up the Observer and Independent, and will now miss the opportunity to tut and shake my head (in the same way I do when I see the front of the National Enquirer).

I would have thought the readership would gravitate to either the Sunday Mirror (light read) or Mail On Sunday.

The Mail is in a prime position to suck up the dispossessed NoW readership, because its website is already considerably different from its print sister. Its
It's (if I may finish) FAR more downmarket - with its shiwbiz coverage being it's most popular microsite (largest hit rate).
aog, it should please you because you will have another website to print links to. And it will increase the freedom of choice you rate highly.

Surely the absence of the NOTW still doesn't stop you from 'tutting and shaking your head', feel free it's so easy try it.
Excuse me trt

AOG - are you going to reply to my comment on your 'Guardian Apologises To The Sun' thread?

Thanks.

The Independent never makes up stories and puts false figures in its articles

Tuts twice and big shake of head
