Sometimes (but not always!) when I click on a link or on a form to open I get a box saying Adobe Reader and a blue question mark and a box saying 'OK'. Whatever I click on it goes blank and nothing happens. I have updated the Adobe Reader when they have told me to but how can I get to what I want to see?

You're not the first person to find that Adobe Reader doesn't always open PDFs within a browser window. The solution is to turn off that feature:

Go to Start > Programs and open Adobe Reader 9.
Then go to Edit > Preferences.
Click to remove the tick alongside 'Display PDF in browser'.
Click 'OK' and close Adobe Reader.

In future, when you click on a PDF link, it will be displayed in a separate window (rather than embedded within a web page) but you won't really notice any great difference (except, of course, that you'll now actually be able to see the document!).

Thanks Chris will try tomorrow when back on laptop (using netbook at work at moment).
Why not uninstall Adobe Reader and use Foxit Reader instead it is a better program and will read everything and is free and has a very small footprint compared to Adobe.

I am trying to download Foxit Reader but keep getting the message below. Can anyone explain why please?

Description:
Access to the web page was blocked by ESET Smart Security.
The web page is on the list of websites with potentially dangerous content.
cnet.com is a well known download site with a good reputation, used them quite a few times myself.

Just downloaded the file your having trouble with, without any problems or warnings.
Your security programs may picked this up as a false positive.
