Just had a postcard arrive from Jersey, where Leah and the Major are on holiday together - they're having a whale of a time and been treated like royalty (by the son and family of an old army friend of the major's) - and Sunday was Leah's birthday, they had a champagne dinner and the major proposed - she said yes! I think it's so sweet, I'm so happy for them

that a side, I just want to be there when he tells that money grabbing son of his....

Awww sweet. Theyve not known each other very long have they?
That's lovely mercia. You're right - you are never too old for romance!
Wow that was quick...will you be doing the catering for the do?
Question Author
Well they did live in the same road for 9 years - but the major was married for 5 of those years they're both in their 70's - what have they got to hang about for? - They've been inseperable and 'elaine' Leah's daughter is delighted - (he phoned her up and asked her permission, bless!) If they want me to do the catering of course i will.
have they set a date?
Question Author
I don't know - the major's birthday is in September...I'll find out when they get back I suppose - unless I hear from Elaine first
am new here so not familiar with anyones names, what a heartwarming post to read, bless them and good luck to them.
thats nice, so will they be taking the little doggie back from you?
Question Author
oh god redcrx - I didn't think of that. The doggies are in Devon at the moment, as I can't execise them. But I don't know. She'll only be next door but one, but I don't know. Started me off crying that thought.
perhaps they will be so busy being newlyweds that they will leave the doggie settled with you, eh? or you can share? saves you or them worrying when away.
Question Author
yes
I think thats lovely Mercia and I hope they have a long and happy marriage.
