Iam 4wks into having Bells Palsy....while recovering what are the chances of getting a cold sore and making the Bells Palsy worse? Any help please,thanks

Two different viruses...............the chances of getting a cold sore are exactly the same as they would have been if you had not been recovering from Bell's Palsy.

The Bell's Palsy cannot be made worse by the cold sore virus.

I have given your question further thought and perhaps my initial answer may have mislead you.

The cause of Bell's Palsy isn't established with certainty although viruses are suspected including the cold sore virus (herpes simplex)

The rest of my first post remains the same.

I was told by my Gp that the Bells Palsy was caused by the last cold sore I suffered from as it is triggered from the herpes simplex virus.All the sites I have looked at also mention this.
