Especially one who has just gone over a give way line at speed and nearly knocking you and your family over?

AND then the officer who was in an unmarked car but wearing uniform decided to stop, half open his door and say 'Is there something you wanted to say to me?'

Also is it the law to stop at a give way line on the approach to a roundabout?

yes whitbybabe, lovely down there near the racecourse, I remember it well!..........
I still don't understand why you and your family were trying to cross the road at a give way line on a roundabout, it sounds irresponsible to me,

Okay how did this get to a discussion about racing lol at you guys.

To all the sarky ppl on here... why bother?

To everyone else thanks for your responses....

Also I have previously only ever had good experiences with police officers, I've found them to be quite sweet normally, and this they have one of the hardest jobs. I'm not one of those people who hate the police etc which is why we were furious at the way he behaved.

Anyway I've complained as have my two sisters so we'll wait and see what happens.
I don't see why people are assuming OP was crossing in an inappropriate place.

Footpaths and sidewalks frequently lead pedestrians to crossing points next to roundabouts.

It's no more appropriate than crossing a side road next to its meeting point with a main road - which is safer than crossing a few metres further away where the pedestrian is hidden from traffic turning off the main road at speed.
