Today I was in magistrates court for breach of the peace with my friend but he didn't attend. I heard the court solicitor women who advice's the magistrates that my friend his in custody for street robbery and a section 18 and 20 assault, I believe is GBH. How long will in be in prison for if convicted? He has already done a 2 year sentence for burning some caravans. out, couple ABH's eg.

As he seems to be of good character I would think he will only get a suspended sentence.
'Section 18' ("GBH with intent") is an extremely serious offence. It's close to 'attempted murder' and carries the same maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

See page 13 here for the guidelines on sentencing Section 18 offences:
http://sentencingcoun...person_accessible.pdf
The sentences there refer to a first-time offender who is convicted after a trial. An early guilty plea can see a reduction of one third in the sentence but previous convictions (or other convictions at the same time) can see the sentencing pushed higher. (Section 20 sentences are on page 15).
