Racial Abuse?

An inappropriate remark, but 'Racial Abuse'? I don't really think so.

We do not know what prompted this elderly gentleman to make this remark, but we do know he could have worded it better.

A small proportion of children (from whatever tribe) behave badly in supermarkets and other establishments, without any redress from their parents.

Surely if Ms Husain had a grievance with the 'elderly gentleman' she could have taken it up with him personally, without the need to play the 'Race Card', involve the supermarket's manager or posting it on Twitter?

Totally agree with you, AOG. This woman was told to control her children, who were obviously playing up, she didn't like being told what to do... So pulled out the "racist" card. Going to the store manager is just pathetic. If you have an issue with someone, just confront them there and then. The store manager can't do anything about what one shopper says to...

Unfortunately, I'm of the 'spellcheck generation'. I used to be able to spell, but now I cannot.

aog, you just don't see it, do you? I don't see you posting any remarks mentioning that someone is straight and white, so why mention if someone is gay and black?

If the need arose there is no reason whatsoever why I wouldn't.

It is you that doesn't get it, I was answering sp1814 who is notoriously anti white, anti ageist etc.

So taking into account he is black and gay he leaves himself wide open for such comments.

Anyway I don't know why I have need to explain things to you, so keep your nose out, and let sp address me himself.

There are certain rotten members of society whose sole aim in life is to spread misery and bigotry because they are in essence - unhappy. Those of is who have made something of their lives want to 'live and let live' (you'll notice that the vast majority of normal people on AB are like this).

The problem with bigots and racists is that they incite hatred. Because they hate Asian and blacks and gays and basically, anyone who isn't a penis-owning white person, they actually generate an equal and opposite degree in those who find their views repugnant.

The best thing to do is ignore them as they are like a cancer...in the most literal sense...cancer is something that just spreads but produces nothing of worth - just unhappiness and misery.

That's what racists/bigots do.

Its an unfortunate fact of life.

I answered your query, could you please reply and tell me if my explanation goes anywhere to somehow explain matters?

Nope...you couldn't be more wrong. I live extremely happily with my partner of 12 years in a five bedrooms Victorian house on which we're going to pay off the mortgage this year.

I have a hugely nutty and funny extended family, holiday in St Lucia, am in great health, am physically fitter than I was ten years ago, have just been promoted to a senior management position for a multinational pharma company, and to cap it all...I am well indowed.

I literally couldn't be happier.
Gee, I didn't realise that this was a discussion which only AOG and sp could partake in without the rest of us getting told off.
