I have a mountain ash in my garden. It is roughly 40 years old. This will be the first
year it hasn't blossomed. Also the leaves are curling up and going brown. And the
bark has started to crack. Any diagnosis from green- fingered abers would be much
appreciated.I have looked on line and found something called fire blight, but I'm not
hundred per cent that's what it is. Sorry, I have no pictures.

sounds like it....although they are not especially long lived trees... it might be worth getting an opinion from a tree expert but also consider replacing it with something from another family altogether
We had something similar with our ceanothus last year, no idea while, it split and died.

Thankyou both. I shall seek advice from a tree expert some time next week.
