Hi all,

I know this is a really stupid question but what exactly is a courtyard garden?

I'm looking to get my first property and have seen one online that I like and it says it has direct access to private courtyard garden.

Is that a back garden?

Small paved garden...
Is it a flat? I would think that means it's a shared garden between all the flats.
courtyard garden is a garden with houses all round i think
Well, I'd take it to mean that there is no lawn, just borders or tubbed plants on a paved over area - but then that's just me!

Hi

Yes it is a flat this is the description

Beautifully presented one bedroom flat to rent, with direct access to private courtyard garden and includes allocated parking.

I need a back garden as I have a pet
It's a small paved garden.
Is it a ground floor flat? If so I would take 'private' as meaning the other flats do not have access.
Couldn't you just contact the agents and double check?

sounds like a small yard, not a garden in the traditional sense

It's usually an outside area encompassed by walls and/or buildings which may NOT actually get very much, or any, sun at all.........
Courtyard gardens are usually planted...so it probably has some little shrubs that are probably dead...

This is a nice courtyard garden...

The only sure way is to go and view it.
Rickets is bad enough...........but *two* lots of rickets.............:o(
yes, viewing is essential, there is so much artistic license on some of these advertised properties that viewing them is the only way to see the reality. I have seen a tiny tiny bedroom advertised as a "double bedroom" it beggars belief!

The important aspect to clarify is if your access is private - i.e. as part of the terms of your rental, you alone get access to the garden, or if the other tenents have access as well, which can cause problems with other pets - a cat/dog interface is often not ideal.
Courtyard garden is a paved area. It will probably be communal if its a flat and other residents might not take kindly to having a dog use it! Ask around
