I went for my first breast screening yesturday ( because I've just turned 50! ), the proceedure as every woman who has had this done is that they clamp the breast whist being X-Rayed which is quite tight, this morning my breast's feel slightly tender, I was wondering if any ladies out there has had this done and has experienced the same after effect's.

Thank's in advance.  xxx   :-)

Hi shaneystar, I thought that at the time, I haven't got much there to start with and thought I'd end up having even less!  x  :-)

Thank's woofgang, I was given a leaflet, but I only read a small bit of it saying I will hear of the results in 6 weeks time, I will read it throughly some time today.   x  :-)

hello catwoman hope you are feeling well, my mother in law( kinda) was really sore for a good few days after and also had some quite bad bruising.not the nicest of experiences i hear.take care.
apparently its most uncomfortable for "smaller" ladies as there is less tissue to spread!!
Soon you'll be tripping over them!!!
It's quite normal to feel tender. After all they do pull you about a bit. Good for you for going. All the best.
Yes, I usualy seem to suffer the same after effects too  but they soon wear off.    I guess it's worth the temporary discomfort for the peace of mind of getting a "normal" result.    Or even if a lump is discovered, at least there's the possibility of getting it dealt with rather than lumbering on in blissful ignorance and then discovering that it's too late.
I have had 5 breast screenings and I hate every minute of it.  It doesn't take long but the pain is horrific.  That is just me.  Quite a few of my friends say that it doesn't hurt so much but they get the tenderness for a couple of days.  I don't.  It just hurts like hell at the time but once I am dressed, everything is fine.
I was terrified after hearing how painful it was - but personally did not feel any discomfort at all.
SIX WEEKS for the results ?????
That is too long, I had mine in less than 2 weeks.
Films taken during the day, develped that evening and looked at within a few days in most x ray depts.

Thank you all for your reply's, I thought that I was getting soft in my "old age" after yesturday's experience, now I know I'm not alone and you have re-assured me, but ladies what an experience, at the time  while I was being X-Rayed, I was thinking "take it easy I'm on the end of those!....... Well it's all over now and hopefully the results will be in my favour, thank you all again, LoL cat woman xxx   :-)

netibiza you made me titter, 'if only'......  :-)

Oooh I'm not looking forward to this - expecting to be called for my first one soon.  I always say to my friend that I've no 'mammo to gram'  but she's small too & says they find some somehow!!

Hi cat woman, I also have not long turned 50, but have not been called for a breast screening yet.  Did you make the appointment yourself, or do you automatically get an appointment? thanks

Hi Eastender, No they sent for me by post with the date and time of when they wanted me, I was surposed to go the 27th September but had to cancel and re-arranged it for 7th Oct.   Maybe I shouldn't have said anything, I dont want to put people off going for something which is very important to us ladies health.   xxx   :-)
Robinia hi. Dont worry it's only a few minutes of discomfort and it is worth it in the long run. :0)

Yes Jude thanks.  It's not going to be the worst thing that I've ever been through at a hospital.  I'm probably going to be more embarrassed than uncomfortable.  I'll have to get my Front and Back stickers out again!
