has anyone else ordered this selection from whsmith on line?
i did so last week after much messing about, what a dreadful site it is. it was much easier in the past when it was nothing to do with whsmith. the only good thing is i'm saving money by ordering on line otherwise i wouldn't bother.

I gave up on Smith's online ages ago. Try Play.com who do free P & P or Waterstones who do free P & P to your nearest branch.
Does your local library (if where you live still have one) not provide R&J books for lending? Most libraries buy at least ten copies (sometimes more) of each and either has its own library book club or you could join and/or start a private club. Ask at your library for details or visit their own website. Failing that, supermarkets often have 2 for 1 deals on books. Personally, I only ever like a couple of what R&J offer anyway!

i really enjoy their book club choices and have bought and enjoyed nearly all of them over the years. they have actually expanded my reading choices as i've enjoyed some that i never would have picked out randomly. if you order on line and buy them all together then you get a considerable discount and don't pay postage. for example, these latest 8 titles have cost me £29 which works out at at between £3.15 and £3.99 per book, not a bad price i think.
i'm sure my local library will have them but personally i prefer to have the books myself to take away on holiday and read at my leisure.
the gripe i have is the whsmith website and ordering procedure, pretty convoluted and difficult to navigate around. in the past it's been really easy to order them direct with richard and judy book club and get the same discount and free postage. however, they've aligned themselves with whsmith now and they're the only people you can order them from to get them at a reduced price. i've noticed in the past that even when the books are sold at 3 for 2, they still work out dearer than if you buy them all at once.
i have my fingers crossed that they'll be in touch shortly to let me know when they'll be delivered :)

Hmmm good luck - I am still waiting on 2 maps I ordered from them in November!! I have ordered other things from them in the past and not had too much of a problem, but it does seem to be getting worse.

well, just rang the local whsmith store and the books are there waiting to be collected by me! so despite the website being a nightmare to navigate, they've actually only taken a week from online order to delivery for me to pick up, can't really complain :)
annie, i'd be on the phone to someone if i was you, that's 4-5 months you've been waiting, not acceptable really is it?
that's good then :o). I kind of suspect that they can't get hold of the maps, as they seem to be out of print everywhere else. i think the publishers have gone bust. They still had them available so ordered on the basis that they still had some old stock. I suspect they haven't. What is annoying me though is that they haven't come back to tell me. I keep forgetting about them and then remember when I haven't got the order number etc to hand. Must try to get them tonight.
