Not quite sure what you mean. If you are referring to when the pile of the carpet gets all squashed down and you wan to perk it up again, then try putting an ice cube over the affected patch. It usually helps. The follow up with putting your vacumn cleaner nozzle over it and rubbing it back and forth vigorously.

the problem is the carpet looks like bondi beach, footprints just do not go away, there are areas of dark and light patches all over,
Sounds like you need to hire a professional carpet cleaning machine and give it a really thorough deep clean.
You can often hire then from Homebase for a day or two, my local large sainsburys wic has a dry cleaners, also hires them out.

good luck!
This sounds like the problem I had with my new carpet. I notices after a week or so. Bits looked entirely different colours. I contacted the shop and they sent the manufacturer's rep out to see it. He said the problem was pile reversal and they ar still tring to discover what causes it. He said they would not accept responsible but would excahnmge it as a gesture of goodwill. Carper was by Ulster Carpets and was expensive.
