I have some Railtrack shares, although I know they were taken over by the Government, do I need to keep the share certificates?

There was a payment of just over 1.5p per share in 2009. Just above the price of toilet paper.
I should take that as a 'no' then - unless you would like the small value in peanuts back again. More useful as a momento.
