A comedy show was recorded with a loud electronic applause and played back to one half of a group of University students in an Australian experiment. The students had been informed beforehand that the applause on the show was recorded off some colleagues of theirs at an early session. Then the same show (and applause) was played back in a similar way to the other half of the same group of students. This time, however, they were told beforehand that the applause on the recording was from members of an unpopular political party. Results the first set of students (at para 2. above) apparently enjoyed the show and rose to applaud it lustily, alongside the electronic applause. The second set of students (at para. 3 above) showed little or no sign of enjoying the show, and did not join the electronic applause. Explain.
