Hello

This is about a pal of mine - female age 56, normally fit and healthy. Has had 3 episodes in the past year or 2 which involve fainting and falling like a stone, then coming round (don't know how much later as it happens at night and she's on her own) and not being able to move for 1 to 2 hours.

After this, she manages to crawl to the sofa or bed and feels dizzy, sick, lethargic and generally grotty for 1,2 or 3 days (can't eat much, feels extremely tired). The GP can't give any explanation as her BP is normal, ECG was ok too. Blood test last November showed normal blood sugars so he says it's can't be diabetes.

He's now asked for FBC and thyroid test.

Does anyone have any ideas please? TIA x

Drop attacks?
epilepsy? Vaso-vagal attacks?
I agree with ljdksa...........2 conditions come to mind

!) Drop attacks
2) Menieres Disease.

The two above may well be related as the cause of drop attacks is not known

I would advice a referral to a Neurologist for further evaluation.
As a Menieres sufferer myself, this does sound familiar; but Menieres usually involves having tinnitus which gets worse nearing and during an attack.
My father occasionall suffers very similar to this. He drops after feeling faint and sick. Last time, breathing was 'very puffy' and I thought he was having a stroke .. almost unconcious. White as a sheet and sick feeling. After laying down for a few hours, ok.
Doctor thinks some sort of stomach reflux.

Thank you all...I've no idea what you are talking about, but will tell her and look into it!

AB is so good :-)
I've had instances of vasco vagal attacks but come round fairly quickly an don't seem to have any after effects (apart from a broken leg last time!)
