Just a casual question really coz I probably know the answers. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place, I really miss my cats, they both died, Puss on 1st Dec 2008, Boots on the 4th Jan 2011, When Boots died 4 weeks ago I vowed that was the end of my cat looking after years, trouble is a house without a cat is very empty, please talk me out of looking at cat re homing sites and tell me there is a life without a moggy.

If you need talking out of it, there's no hope for you, lol.

Forget the cats ... feed/study/enjoy the plethora of wild birds you will now get in the garden.
errr, I';ll not be talking you out of it I know that! If you want the phone number just say, they have plenty of mature cats that need a good home!
What was your reason for vowing never to get another cat? I did the same last year when we had to say goodbye to our old cat. Got a kitten within a couple of months:-) You know you want to!
It will mean that there will be somebody in the house that you can have a decent conversation with. ;-)

Once Dotty gives you the number of the Kitty Orphanage and you get a chance to see all the little monsters that needing a new home you will fall in love with a furry little face and you will all live happily ever after.

I wish you well - whatever you decide to do.

Understand your problem Puss. We were completely devastated to lose our two boys in one year. After the shock and initial grief,I craved another cat to love. My husband would have none of it cos he never wanted to go through such heartache again. But,through, local circumstances, and being kind to a bullied girl, she has practically moved in!!...We are enslaved once more;-)..I think cats will find who they need to be with:-)
Look at my avatar----don`t we look happy?
puss. You and Doc should take yourself off asap to the local animal rescue place and get a cat. Yes they do make a home and no there isn't a life without a moggie!!

have a responsibility free spring and summer then get a couple in the autumn.....They would be out all day in the warm weather anyway

Thanks for your replies, we're just going to think about it for a bit longer, I'm secretly hoping that a nice kitty will wander our way and adopt us, that will make my mind up for me.
I'll send my reprobate of a cat your way Puss. I'll send her with a backpack of food. You will regret it - she is a hooligan!! ;o)
There may be heartache when they go....but surely the joy they give you over 10-12-even 15-years,far outweighs that sadness. You are always left with good memories.
I'm a dog person, never had a cat, but I lost one dog (Susie) in May 2009 then Meg took off Oct. 25th 2010. I have also vowed no more pets, the house is so clean, big and empty without them, amazed how much time they consumed!!
Last week a stray bitch was wandering in the road, by the time I got out she had disappeared, what would have happened if I'd taken her in?
Just wait and see what happens, if you're in doubt maybe a moggie will find you!!
Maybe that's what I'm waiting forxx
I know exactly what you mean, puss - many many years ago we lost both our furry boys within a year, and then-OH said never again, but I couldn't be happy without a cat about me, I acquired a little black kitten and OH came to love him very much. This time, I can't imagine our three guys not being here now - I know it's a tie but they give us so much back. (This is No1Son in my avatar now.) One will come your way, puss, you'll know him (or her) when you see him.
You don't need a cat of your own, look after other peoples when they go on holiday.
