I have a septic tank system with a grease reducer between sink and tank. In the past week or so I've had smells coming from the sink and dish washer. The whole septic system including grease reducer was emptied in may last year so that's not the problem. Water from the sink seeps away normally. I've just bought a packet of 'stuff' to use in the next 3 days to clean tubes out and is also septic tank friendly and after using it once, it seems worse....
I've noticed that once the water has been emptied from the sink or the dishwasher there's a gurgle sound; does this indicate something? can that relate to the smell?

is there a U bend or bottle trap somewhere that should stay filled with water and block smells? Sometimes they become empty and let stinks in.
When you say ... 'Water from the sink seeps away normally' ... it should'nt seep. It should flow. If that's the case it would indicate a blockage. In turn this may cause a smell.
Personally I would try to plunge it first ... then get a waste/drain cleaner product and try that.
Some are a lot stronger than others, so read the instructions carefully.
...just wondering, when you say "grease reducer", is that a grease trap? I mean the kind of thing that's underground rather like a large manhole and cover.
There are several variations, but most likely it should contain water to block smells, as Woofter has said. Is there a cover you could lift?
Otherwise, give it some with Alava's plunger :o)

Will try that woofgang. I have plunged it but it doesn't seem to make any difference alavahalf and because of the grease trap water can't flow away quickly.
Yes, it's a grease trap then; the builder as it's underground but too heavy for me to lift up. Do you think the gurgling sound means there's air somewhere? Strange thing is, on a morning first thing there is no odour but once I drain water away in the sink the odour comes back.
Probably the only thing for it Cocci .............. grab someone to lift the cover for you, so we can have a look......... take it from there :o)
