Those of you who use FB may already have seen this, so forgive me if its been posted already, but this has just been sent to me. If you don't want this on your FB account, you have to switch it OFF as it's auto-enabled - I've just disabled mine.

"Between today and tomorrow, the New FB Privacy setting called "Instant Personalization" goes into effect. The new setting shares your data with non-FB sites & it is automatically set to "Enabled".Go to Account>Privacy Settings>Apps & Websites>Instant Personalization>edit settings & uncheck "Enable". BTW If your friends don't do this, they will be sharing info about you as well. Please copy and repost."

Ha! I was just looking to see if I could remember who's profile I saw this on and failing miserably! Cheers Boxy.... Tried to do it yesterday but it said I couldn't.
'Note: instant personalisation is not yet available for you.'

^^^ Same message as yesterday... ah well...
Pericat posted it...

These things come up all the time..usually nonsense. Just like paedophiles trying to look at pictures of your kids etc etc...
Yeah... But I don't have kids ummmm so it's hardly the same thing!.... (I should probably run now before I get told off for being in poor taste).

Dunno who pericat is, pretty sure it was a fella. Never mind, got the instructions now.
is this for real?
You know the posts I mean though. I just ignore them....
I haven't changed mine yet as I can't do it on here, but FB did ask if some site or other could share my details and I just said no so something has changed (no idea what though).
lol pericat is a woman!

I had quite a time finding it - you go into apps then click on Find out More, and right down the bottom is a tiny check box which is already checked "YES" so you need to uncheck it. It takes a while to come back unchecked but it does eventually. I don't want my info shared like this, none of their business.
Seems to be real, if you follow the instructions you certainly get to something.... I just don't seem to have it enabled in the first place.. That said, there's been some sort of new look facebook thing it keeps telling me about that I keep ignoring so maybe that's why.
Question Author
I never got any notification that it was coming - ony this message being circulated amongst my FB friends. Anyway, I've deactivated it now (probably activated something else in passing, if I but realised it...)
Thanks for that Boxy, I hadn't heard anything about this and I'm quite fussy about my privacy on FB :)

Me too karen, I've limited access (as much as I can control!) so I was pleased someone alerted me about this.
