Is this country going completely mad?

So in some schools children are to be taught about homosexuality in maths, geography and science lessons as part of a Government-backed drive to "celebrate the gay community". ???????????
The question I ask is 'WHY'?
Certain subjects are hard enough for some children to pick up on now, without the added confusion of including gender issues into therm.
Do you wish your children to be taught this way?

Regarding alienating people, you should first look in your own backyard, it is such lies that are banded about by such as you, that alienates me against you.
Since it was you who has brought the subject of Muslims up, in a question regarding homosexuals, (which in itself I found rather ironic) I will also answer that.
Yes I admit I would rather not see Muslims in this country, not that I have anything against Muslim as a whole, it is their religion Islam and all the cultural differences that go with it, that I am uneasy with.
And that is my choice, and I will not have you or anyone else telling me who I must like or not like, and that I should also accept Islam.

Queer bashing still goes on, albeit, it's no where near as prevalent as it used to be.
Regarding my hypocrisy in quoting the Daiy Mail - one swallow doesn't make a summer. I still hold it in very low esteem (it's coverage and the subsequent postings from it's readership confirm my prejudice), but that's incidental to the topic of this posting.
Gay kids are still MUCH more likely to attempt (and in some sad cases succeed) to kill themselves because of gay-haters bullying them. If headmasters want to take up the challenge to stamp out this and decide that these teaching materials/methods is the way to go, then who could argue with that?
I don't see what the issue is. You COULD say "That's not the way it was in my day", and I would agree with you. It wasn't like that in my day either. But this is not our day. It's 2011 and schools should be reflecting the society around them.

My main concern about the state of the country as a whole isn't whether it's going mad, rather that it might be going stupid, but that's a whole other discussion.
Interesting, if wearying, to see the thought processes of various people at work in this thread and others. The reports I've read refer to the fact this approach is optional, though this aspect tends to be rather buried presumably so as to make the story sound as unreasonable as possible, and it seems to me that if used it will be the kind of approach suggested earlier i.e. a family scenario in a maths problem won't just refer to hetero married couples.
Yet, as we so often see in AB threads, we immediately have talk of "bombardment", "thrusting upon" and national madness. The only form of madness I can see here is the reflex gibbering and mouth-foaming reactions of the usual suspects to what actually isn't really very much of a story at all.

If you find it a non-story then why bother to contribute, there are plenty of others that consider it controversial enough to contribute, so you won't be missed..
I find it most offensive for the likes of you to call all those that don't toe your line, 'MAD'. and that their opinions are 'gibbering and mouth foaming reactions'

My reflexes are good, I do not speak gibberish, and I do not foam at the mouth. I don't want arrogant people like you dictating how my children should be educated and in effect overriding what I feel is in their best interests. If this nonsense is what you want for your offspring that's your choice, but don't presume to know what's best for mine.

I don't have any children but I find it very worrying when those with various agendas seek to promote their ideas by manipulating the vulnerable minds of young children. Children should be allowed to make their own decisions about issues when they have grown up and reached an age and maturity that they can do that. Any decent person should recognise that children are vulnerable and need to be protected - not have their minds manipulated by various adults who have ulterior motives. Such adults are nothing but evil.
