I can access the internet via Google. No problem. Ditto using Safari browser or Firefox browser.

Sometimes when I click on a page it will go to it but take forever to try and open it before it gives up and fails to open!

My worst problem is in iTunes. I can preview all music in iTunes store, including latest releases.

However when I try to enter ''Redeem'' to add credit the same issue keeps coming up t tries, on ad on, to open the page before giving up. Deeply frustrating.

On Mac, what settings do I need to check ...and where. Is it proxy settings? Is it preferences?

Please please help! I sent an email to Apple support...but still heard nothing.

Have done a diagnostic on my internet set - all lights are green - connection is perfect etc etc.

Throw your suggestions at me.

Operating system is Mac 10.4 iTunes version is 9+...whichever is latest for 10.4 Mac

Can I ask why you are adding credit through the redeem page. Normally here you would enter the redemption code of prepaid tunes or movies etc.
You might try clearing cache on your browsers to speed them up but this wont affect iTunes
Question Author
Cleared the cache entirely on browsers.

I dont fully understand your query Milvus. The vouchers are poourchased in HMV storeand the code is added through clicking on 'redeem' toadd to my credit.
Of course Starmack, I'm not sure what I was thinking when I asked that!.
It would be unlikely that anything has changed in your prefs to be causing this, so try this first. Go to your applications folder, then Utilities, then Disk Utility. Select your main hard disk in the left column, in the centre window choose first aid (this will probably be selected automatically), then click Repair Permissions. This may take a while if you haven't done this recently (or at all). When it is complete restart your computer and try iTunes again

Hi Milvus - tried all you suggested in recent posting. Restarted Mac and iTunes. No luck, same message re cannot connect to store and a time out......
Take a look at your firewall. Go to System Preferences, Security, Firewall. Click Advanced, then enter your normal password. Go down the list to iTunes and make sure allow incoming connections is on (green light). If not it will show a red light. If so click the red light and change to green. If iTunes is not on the list then click the + sign at the bottom, click iTunes from the App list, Click Add, then OK on the Firewall window. Start iTunes and try again. By the way do you have your Mac backed up?
Question Author
Yeah, the Mac is backed up.

When I open Security> it is FireVault window (not Firewall). I do not see Advanced option.....
I forgot you are on OSX 10.4, that's where it is now on 10.6. I'll check it on a 10.4 system and get back to you
Question Author
Thanks Milvus. I have posted to several Mac User Groups...but not getting any advice....
Make sure iTunes is not running. Then check whether the firewall might be stopping iTunes communicating properly
In 10.4 the firewall is in preferences/sharing. Click the firewall tab and then click Stop.
Start iTunes and check your redeem issue. If it doesn't work go back to the firewall page and click start. There's a couple more things to try. If it does work, still turn the firewall back on for the moment. We'll have to work out which setting to alter.

Only 'Network Time' was clicked under Firewall.

There is a 'Start' click...but I cannot see any label/box titled 'Stop.'
Question Author
Hi Milvus, I unclicked 'Network Time" and tried to redeem. No luck.

I have re-clicked that item.

What else should normally be clicked under Firewall????

Thanks for your help.
Question Author
Yeah...I now see "Stop" click..it's the same one as ''Start.''

My Internet Service Provider told me this was (*likely) due to an enhanced broadband speed etc delivered remotely five weeks ago. The time scale is right.

However, when he applied the earlier broadband access speed again, it did not restore my access to iTunes Store.

Any help appreciated

Did a reboot of router settings and also turned AirPort on (previously told to turn it off by technical support). Eureka. I am back in iTunes...hopefully to stay this time.

Thanks Milvus for all your suggestions.
Glad you there Starmack. I have to say I hadn't considered the ISP upgrade, now noted for the future.
My next move would have been to have you bury a toad in the garden under the next full moon. I got that from a PC World techie :)
