I am taking my laptop on holiday and packing it in my rucksack and taking it on the plane as carry-on luggage, what I want to know is when I remove it at security do I have to put my mobile broadband dongle and electrical lead in the same tray with the laptop or will I just leave them in my rucksack?
Thanks in advance.

I'm sure that Security staff will tell you to empty your rucksack if they need to take a closer look at anything.
I shouldn't worry about it, The security staff will be too busy laughing at your image in the full body scanner to worry about anything else.
i put my cables in my backpack and i only take out my laptop when going through security.. . . . . . but mind you that was in Laos and Thailand... should be alright though, as NN said, they will tell you if something is up. but ive had no trouble.
