cast iron baths

what can i paint on the underside of a roll top bath to stop it from rusting that is also clear does anybody know of a varnish that will do this ...please help ???

Would yacht varnish stick to metal?  Or try whatever they use on metal canal boats.

I'd use Hammerite, no need to de-rust just wire-brush loose rust off and paint.  It's excellent stuff and comes in smooth or hammered finish in loads of colours.  It will not rust or flake.
