The apostrophe must be the most widely misused bit of punctuation in the English language, but the rules are few and simple. Check it out -

Phew, thanks guys. I'll sleep well tonight now.
I didn't notice the second question - are you a boring old fart? Well, are you? Personally I always correct the kids when they ask to borrow my toilet. How the hell can you borrow a toilet? Use one, but not borrow.
Im afraid I dont`t always use them if I`m in a hurry to get what I want to say out. But what really bugs me is when people say they want to win someone at a game of whatever when they really mean `beat them'. Who wants to win someone at a game ?
Oh I don't know, TheOtheHalf, it could be fun!!
learn them instead of teach and...remember me instead of remind...AAAAAARRRGGGHHHH!

Hi - sorry, I've been out shopping. I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in my despair over misuse of punctuation & language generally!

Crosswordfan - my avatar is actually a photo of some sourdough rye bread I'd just made - it was still hot when shot. The bottle of good red wine went down very well with it. There was some cheese & pate as well, but they would have spoiled the composition!
