Frozen rabbit (not that sort)

My cleaner mentioned today that she'd had to de-ice her rabbit's cage and put more bedding etc in the cage and a blanket over to keep it warm. When I asked where it was kept she replied it was in the shed!
Now I know nothing about real rabbits but aren't you supposed to keep them indoors in winter?
