There are always lots of threads about ...

... which is the "Best Christmas Song"

Maybe this year, we should look out for the best of the "Best Christmas Songs" threads.

(ps. the best Christmas song is, of course, All I Want For Christmas Is You ... Mariah Carey's total modern classic),

Mind you, I can't listen to Little Drummer boy without thinking of Peter Griffins version...
Greg lake is my fave too.
I cant think or a recent "Christmas Song" that has been produced (by recent I mean last 5 years) that can rival all the above mentioned songs. Which is why we have to endure repeats every year!
I've never liked the Little Drummer Boy since reading that it was being played in the back ground as Myra Hindley and Ian Brady recorded the torture and murder of Lesly Ann Downey
I didn't know that paddywak :(
There is a nice christmas image!
^ My Dad has heard that tape, Paddywak. And he'll excuse himself from 'anywhere' where the song (sung by whomever) is playing....................:o(
Billy Idol...quite manic but I like the song and it reminds me of one of my fave movies Die Hard.

we will get our wish this year......lol
Greg Lake's "I Believe in Father Christmas" is obviously a "Christmas song" due to its subject matter, but it's seriously anti-Christmas, specifically the excessive commercialisation of Christmas.

Pete Sinfield is on record as saying his lyrics are about the loss of innocent childish beliefs, and equates his realisation that Father Christmas doesn't exist with his (not much) later realisation that Jesus wasn't who people say he was either.

The song is not (necessarily) anti-Christian, despite the second verse, but it's certainly anti-Christmas... Great song, though, thanks in no small part to Prokofiev.
"Bah, humbug, here comes Christmas"
"Bah, humbug, here comes Christmas"
"Bah, humbug, here it comes"
"Bored with ennui I shall beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee................
..............."
How about 'Christmas 1915'
Sparks - Thank God It's Not Christmas, recorded live in London a little while ago. Great gig, of course...
