What I mean is could I, for example, ask to see a copy of a relative's will whilst that relative is still alive.  Hope that makes more sense.

best thing to do is kill the person then ask to see the will..hope ive been some help

My Auntie (who is still alive) has drawn up a will leaving her house to me and my husband.  We have a copy of the will stating this but because we've now split up she is going to take his name off it.  Does he have any right to request a copy from her Solicitors or will he just have to wait and see .... :-)

none at all, he'll have to wait and see
also even though you have a copy of that will, it means nothing until the person is dead and the will is proved. If there is a later will then that will is the one that will be used to apportion the legacies, unless successfully contested of course
That's really bad form!
