With the recent weird messages in chatterbank and elsewhere, is there a way to only allow new posters to post in one 'newcomers thread' and if their messages are ok, others can vote for them to admit them to the rest of the site. Just a thought!
If this was solely a chat site that might make sense but the majority of people who join AB are actually seeking answers in the 'serious' sections of the site. It would probably deter most people from using the site if they had to wait for permission to post, say, a question related to health, relationships or travel.
Yeah I know Buenchico, but what else can be done, they're even cropping up in places with rational answers to gain credibility then in other places being schitzo, what's all that about?
Dagman... I know exactly what you mean. I have had rational replies from 'newcomers' and responded back to them; only to find a half hour later that the replies have been removed. Some folk will go to great lengths to gain re-entry into AB and I marvel at the fact that Editorial often spot them very quickly.
I think they should just be ignored like you would the class show-off - they'll soon get bored when no-one responds to them. (To be honest, their inane rantings are really boring now - none of them seems to have an original idea.)
Too many people respond to them to make it an option and unless something is put in place it will simply go on. Mind you it's up to Ed and his patience which must be that of a saint.
we need more statistics in our prifile, things like favourite Garth Brooks Album, favourite Garth Brooks song, favourite Garth Brooks shirt, stuff that really seperates the trolls from us normal folk and ummmm
